Evaluation & Therapy Services

Early Language Delays - Gestalt Language Processing - Speech Sound Disorders - Childhood Apraxia of Speech - Expressive and Receptive Language Disorders - AAC - Reading Support

We provide individualized, child-centered therapy services to children and their families throughout the Eau Claire and Chippewa Valley area.

We take a neurodiversity-affirming approach, recognizing that differences like autism and ADHD are not problems to be fixed, but natural variations in how children think, communicate, and connect. We celebrate each child’s strengths while supporting their unique needs—so they can engage more fully and joyfully in the world around them.

Our services include:

  • Comprehensive speech and language evaluations

  • Ongoing speech and language therapy

  • Reading support services

Whether your child is working on saying their first words, making their speech easier to understand, expressing themselves more confidently, or building foundational literacy skills, we’re here to help—with compassion, creativity, and a whole-family mindset.

Evaluations

At Unity Speech Therapy, we combine input from caregivers with our advanced clinical knowledge to characterize each child’s communication skills. A typical communication evaluation includes a review of developmental history, caregiver interviews, questionnaires and observations, as well as standardized assessment and/or play-based assessment

Following the evaluation, we will share the results and discuss areas for growth. In partnership with caregivers, we will then form a treatment plan that encourages, excites, and supports the whole family.

Therapy

Our therapy approach is child-led and play-based! We incorporate each child's interests into our sessions and support their sensory and motor needs so they are in their optimal learning state. Caregivers are encouraged to participate in our sessions through observation and interactive coaching.

Since therapy is most impactful when everyone is on the same page, we also teach caregivers how to weave therapy into their daily lives! We provide activities and strategies that can be integrated into normal routines like getting dressed, eating, reading, or playing.

Our Specialties

Language and communication

Gestalt language processing and NLA speech therapy for autistic children

From first words to complex conversations, we support all forms of language development—including expressive and receptive language, gestalt language processing, and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). We use a neurodiversity-affirming lens and frameworks like Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) and DIR Floortime to meet each child where they’re at. Therapy is always child-led, relationship-centered, and rooted in real-world connection.

Speech sound support

childhood apraxia of speech therapy

We help children become more confident communicators by supporting speech clarity and coordination. Our approach includes evidence-based methods like PROMPT and DTTC for motor speech and apraxia, as well as support for articulation and phonological challenges. We use play-based, strengths-focused techniques so your child feels safe, understood, and successful as they grow their sound system.

reading support

Speech therapy for late talkers and AAC therapy

We help preschool and elementary students who are struggling to read build strong literacy skills—and confidence—through a playful, evidence-based approach. Our method blends the science of reading with therapeutic techniques that support the brain’s natural learning pathways, making reading feel doable and even fun. Whether your child is learning to decode, developing phonemic awareness, or working on comprehension, we meet them where they’re at and build a plan that fits.
